Widcombe Parade displays the confidence of times past, yet today remains vibrant and progressive with its own chic café culture. The south side is a fascinating mix of retail and commercial Georgian and Victorian buildings, some dating back to 1750. In 1975 their worth was noted and many are listed Grade II.

The White Hart pub also dates to the mid-18th century and shares some features of nearby Ralph Allen's Cottages built to accommodate his stone masons as he developed Bath. It was probably conceived as a beer house in what was then an ‘industrial’ area, and originally included a skittle alley.
